I receive many questions from applicants. Let me use this space to respond to some of them
1. You don’t need to have admission at this stage of the application process. It is only required that you list 3 UK universities and your preferred course(s) of study in your chevening application. (It is ideal that you focus on the scholarship application, this is the time to strengthen your 4 essays)
2. You can start applying to the schools after November 3 when you have submitted your chevening scholarship application.
3. Having a conditional or an unconditional offer from one of your universities is great, but it won’t add anything to being selected for the interviews. Chevening selection committee will focus on your professional, academic background and strength of your 4 essays.
4. At this stage, you don’t need to write IELTS before you submit an application. The deadline for IELTS requirement is July 2022 and even with that, chevening might waive the IELTS due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
5. Most UK schools don’t require IELTS or TOEFL scores from students who studied in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and many countries where English is the official language of instruction.
6. You don’t need First class to apply. If you are able to gain an admission in one of your universities, you’re good to go! Second class lower (2:2) is accepted in many schools in the UK.
7. Chevening prioritise academic, professional development, strong networking skills leadership and influence and a clear, ambitious career plan.
8. The application deadline is November 3. The system can misbehave sometimes so don’t wait till deadline☺️

Happy New Month.
