Dear ASOMESI comma
I decided to pass by Hajia’s place for some waakye after almost two weeks of loosing appetite because my flu, as I always do, I spy from afar to make sure she will be the one there to serve me and not her heartless daughters, especially Memuna, who will smile to you but give you waakye that wouldn’t satisfy a 5 year old.
Do you know what, as I got closer it was Hajia but from nowhere, her daughter took over and I was the 3 person in the queue praying silently for Hajia to come back, but my prayer answer was delayed until I heard Memuna asking me, ‘wo t) sen’?
There noooor I knew my end has come because my Ghc5.00 wouldn’t do foko. I bought waakye 2.00, veggies 1.00, wele 1.00, egg 1.00; I had gari at home so wouldn’t waste money and for ‘taalia’ de3, I see nothing in it. I gave Memuna 10.00 expecting a Ghc 5.00 change and hmmmm.
Asomesi, this Memuna girl gave me 4.00 and I was like how? Why?, Memuna told me she heard me say I want waakye 3.00 and that looking at my stomach, 2.00 worth of waakye will do me nothing! I told her its either she gives me my 1.00 or add some more waakye that wicked waakye couldnt be 3.00
People came around but me ankasa I mean Memuna long time so I purported in my heart not to lose guard until one old man pulled me aside and said, “Me wofaase, 1.00 3ny3 hwee na s3bi, nipa mpo 3wu”; at this point, I let go.
I told Memuna we are done with elections and pledges for Peace so if it had not been for the man, I would’ve sat there till Hajia returns.
ASOMESI learn how to prepare waakye…
